I'm back!

Well, my laptop decided to break which is why I haven't written any blogs in a while. Then Pokémon Heart Gold arrived and so I've been playing that. I think it is an amazing game, upgraded graphics, Kanto restored to what is originally was, new areas and such. There is no doubt about it, the original Gold, Silver and Crystal were my favourite games of all time. My new favourite games of all time are Heart Gold and Soul Silver. I'm only 4 badges in and have a long way to go to get 16 badges.

Updates!

Ok, first things first and that's the gamerscore update of which there once again isn't one. I came online for the 1vs100 finale but that was about it.

In RuneScape I'm quite close to level 87 cooking but didn't get the level 88 that I wanted, I still tried though. Hopefully I'll reach a higher level by next week.

In Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobos Dungeon I managed to gain some more dispel magic to uncurse my weapons. Those things seem quite rare, it took me a while to find them and so I wasn't really able to continue the storyline that much.

In Pokémon I did manage to beat the elite 4. Currently I am EV training my Giritina's special attack, battling Golduck after Golduck. Not long until Heart Gold and Soul Silver now though :)

Blog Changes

Ok, so I've decided to make some changes to this blog. It will no longer be just about gamerscore as in the past. It was a good five months writing about just games with gamerscore. But not only am I considering canceling LoveFilm soon due to the fact that I don't get as much money as I used to, but I just want to play more games for more consoles. Of course, I'll still be going for gamerscore since I still want to beat DizzyChaos but it will probably just be less apparent.

So now for the new format:

First, I have found that Xylofreak does indeed have a blog which like the rest of my followers is a good read. You'll find it at
http://360gamerscore360.blogspot.com/

Next is my gamerscore update. I've mainly took a break this week and only played 1vs100, that was fun. I do want to finish Secret Service which I have been playing for gamerscore though.

RuneScape, the MMORPG that I play. Find it at http://www.runescape.com. RuneScape is a great game in which I am currently trying to get level 99 Cooking. I'm quite a while from it currently being level 86. I hope to get level 88 by the next blog.

Final Fantasy: Chocobos Dungeon for the Wii is the game I'm playing which is not for gamerscore at the moment. It's like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon if you have played those games. You basically go around in randomly generated dungeons fighting monsters along the way to get to the end. At the end of the dungeon is usually someones memory which contains things that they have forgotten. How someones memory is trapped in a randomly generated dungeon I don't know, but it is a fun game so that's all that really matters to me.

Next is the Pokémon update. When Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver comes out I expect to either write a lot about what I've been doing in them or just take a break from blogging for a while. But for now it's Platinum that I am playing. I got this game quite late and so I've only just received my 8th badge. Currently I am making my way to the Pokémon league with just 1st Generation Pokémon. When I started Platinum I decided that this is all that I'd use until after the elite 4. By next blog I hope to have beaten the elite 4.

Finally, I have been accepted into University to do Computer Game Development. I'm really pleased with this and start in late September, I think it is going to be an interesting time :)

I should also mention that I plan to change the day of the blogs to Saturday. There are a few reasons for this but the main one is that FUNimation has the license to start simulcasting the One Piece Anime again which I believe you should be able to watch at http://www.funimation.com . This is great because it means that people shouldn't be tempted to watch it illegally again and FUNimation can make money if you watch it at their website. Episode 415 of One Piece will be available next Sunday at 3AM in England, Saturday at 9PM CST.

Short blog

I've been quite busy this past week and while I was supposed to post a blog last week which is why there wasn't one. I'm also going to try and keep this short because I still have a lot to do, I'm playing more games which aren't gamerscore and so I may perhaps change this blogs name.

I have a new follower this week which is Xylofreak03. I don't know if he has a blog since it won't let me link to him but either way, thanks for following me.

I completed Meet the Robinsons which was really quite a boring and dull experience. Generally bad controls and it just seemed to last a lot longer than I wanted it to. It is easy gamerscore though, I'll give it a 4/10.

Hopefully I'll have a better blog next week.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

2 New Followers

Well, once again there were no games completed this week. I will definitely have Meet the Robinsons done by next week though, I can't keep being lazy.

I have two new followers this week which are ChaosSaturn and DizzyChaos:

http://dizzychaos.blogspot.com/
http://chaossaturn.blogspot.com/

I know ChaosSaturn in real life and DizzyChaos is of course my rival. I think their blogs are both worth reading.

DizzyChaos update:

His gamerscore now: 72,260 - An increase of 345 gamerscore
My gamerscore now: 62,995 - An increase of 360 gamerscore

I only just about beat him this week, hopefully that will change soon.

Rank update:

My world ranking: 12,580 - A decrease of 316 ranks
My country ranking: 2,828 - A decrease of 80 ranks

The ranks are decreasing again. Next week I hope to fix this problem by actually finishing Meet the Robinsons.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

An Epic Rant and NES Achievements

No games were completed again this week which was because Meet the Robinsons sucks and I am consequently taking my time with it. However, I do have some things to talk about regarding Gears of War 2. DizzyChaos, level 71, a legit player has had his rank reset to 1. I believe that this is probably due to a glitch but really Epic? Why can't you fix this, it makes me worry about getting to level 100 myself and whether or not I should even bother. I'm going to buy the new maps and single player content next week but I have had second thoughts about it. DizzyChaos must have spent hundreds of of hours getting to that level, it's pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

The next thing I want to mention is NES achievements, a website I have found. Basically, join the site and you can start earning achievements for NES games. The site is new and doesn't have many members so hopefully it'll get bigger soon. You can see it here: http://nesachievements.forumotion.net/

DizzyChaos update:

His gamerscore now: 71,915 - An increase of 1,990 gamerscore
My gamerscore now: 62,635 - An increase of 140 gamerscore

If Meet the Robinsons hadn't have sucked then I might have gotten a lot more. It seems that DizzyChaos got a lot of gamerscore this week.

Rank update:

My world ranking: 12,264 - A decrease of 281 ranks
My country ranking: 2,748 - A decrease of 72 ranks

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 19 July 2009

DizzyChaos and Rank update

There were no games completed this week and so I'll move to the DizzyChaos update immediately:

His gamerscore now: 69,925 - An increase of 100 gamerscore
My gamerscore now: 62,495 - An increase of 425 gamerscore

I didn't increase that much this week, neither did Dizzy luckily. Apparently he plans to get a lot next week though.

Rank update:

My world ranking: 12,264 - An increase of 7 ranks
My country ranking: 2,748 - A decrease of 7 ranks

Not very good this week, I'll have to earn more gamerscore to go up ranks.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

RIP: The World's Greatest Game Shop

I didn't think I'd ever make this blog, I didn't think that I'd have to. But sadly I do as it seems that the greatest shop to ever exist has today shut down. Game Exchange was much better than Game, Gamestation, Cex, Blockbuster and all the other small shops that sold games. Game Exchange's owner actually knew knew what he was talking about, a person who actually played a wide variety of games, rare or common, new and old. Perhaps the most unique thing was the fact that the owner played games inside the shop itself. I have many memories of this shop, it's been there since I was a kid. I remember buying Final Fantasy VII from there for £18.95 preowned which was great, I had been looking for it for a long time. I remember seeing the owner play Final Fantasy VIII before I had it. The best memories were boosting gamerscore and playing games inside the shop. I remember in the days when Phantasy Star Episodes I&II were released for the Gamecube. He played it non stop for months, my character in the game was barely level 100 by the time his was level 200. The amount of times we got gamerscore together too. Recently co-oping Terminator: Salvation. I'm going to miss Game Exchange, it was such a great shop. Good bye...

Another game complete, Mario Marathon and 0 for Dizzy again

Another game complete this week. It was Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Since it's exactly the same as Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection I see no need to talk about it, you should go buy it if you have an American 360.

The next think I want to do is congratulate the people doing the Super Mario Marathon who have currently raised over $16,000 for charity. It's still going so you can see the live embed below or go to http://www.mariomarathon.com.

DizzyChaos update:

His gamerscore now: 69,825 - An increase of 0 gamerscore
My gamerscore now: 62,070 - An increase of 1,710 gamerscore

He got 0 again =D

Rank update:

My world ranking: 12,271 - An increase of 676 ranks
My country ranking: 2,741 - An increase of 157 ranks

Quite a good increase this week, this is good.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 5 July 2009

1 game complete, DizzyChaos 0 again and Pokémon Heart Gold/Soul Silver

One game was completed this week which was Night of the Museum. Night of the Museum is a really bad game but also really easy, taking about 3 hours to complete and maybe even less. It has no real action and basically involves walking around and around and around until everything is done in a level. It's like Hannah Montana in that way, except not as bad as that. I'll give it a 3.3/10.

DizzyChaos update:

His gamerscore now: 69,825 - An increase of 0 gamerscore
My gamerscore now: 60,360 - An increase of 1,485 gamerscore

Again with 0 gamerscore? I just have to say lol to this.

Rank update:

My world ranking: 12,947 - An increase of 668 ranks
My country ranking: 2,898 - An increase of 172 ranks

Good, my ranks are increasing well this week =D

I'll go a bit off topic now and not talk about gamerscore. In September which is a little while away yet Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver are released in Japan. I'm importing them and so during this time I'll be playing them a lot and so you can expect less gamerscore to be gotten, maybe I'll do some blogs about the new games.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

3 games, 1 follower and 0 gamerscore for DizzyChaos

This week I completed 3 games which were Uno, Family Game Night's Connect 4 and Disney's Bolt.

Uno is basically just Uno, nothing more and nothing less. To get the achievements it involves pressing A a lot and occasionally some other buttons too. If you like Uno you will probably like this, I found the most annoying achievement to be win 10 games online with 4 people. It took me many attempts to get a group of people together that actually weren't going to quit. At one point i praised the people in a match I was in for not quitting, but at the end of the match they decided that since I was playing for an achievement (which in no way affected them) they would kick me. That was annoying and so I gave the host bad rep. When I did finally get some people together though it was really fun, I'll give it a 7.7/10.

Family Game Night's Connect 4 was next. This game is basically just Connect 4 with a few extra modes which allow you to do things such as blow up other counters. For 800 points it's a waste of money and unless you want the achievements like me then you probably shouldn't buy it. Instead you should get the Wii or PS2 version of Family Game Night. It comes with 5 other games and rather than being £6.67 each for a game bringing it to a total of £40 you can spend around £15. This is a complete rip off and so I'm giving it a 1/10, the lowest score I've given so far because it is simply too short (1 hour for 200 points), overpriced and ridiculous.

The final game I beat was Disney's Bolt which was surprisingly a really good game. It's nice to see a good 3D platformer with minigames which are reminiscent of Geometry Wars. The achievements were really good too with things like kill 100 enemies with each type of attack. The only one I had a problem with was a glitched achievement which wouldn't unlock until I made Bolt get hit by an SUV about 7 times. Other than that, there were no glitches and the game really is a fun 3D platformer which I would recommend even if you are not going for achievements. I'll give it an 8.3/10.

I also have a new follower this week which is Midwife4783 who's blog can be found at http://midwife4783.blogspot.com/. His blogs are quite short which I think is nice since most blogs that I read are long. That's not a bad thing, I just think it's nice to also have short blogs. This one is quite nice, I recommend you take a look at it.

DizzyChaos update:

His gamerscore now: 69,825 - An increase of 0 gamerscore
My gamerscore now: 58,875 - An increase of 1,170 gamerscore

Lol, 0 gamerscore? Wonder what happened to him this week. He could have easily gotten to 70K. He also changed his name to EAS x IDizzie but I will still refer to him as DizzyChaos since I think it sounds much better and is certainly easier to both pronounce and remember.

Rank update:

My world ranking: 13,615 - An increase of 468 ranks
My country ranking: 3,070 - An increase of 90 ranks

My ranks are still going up which is good but my country rank seems to be slowing down, might have to get more gamerscore next week.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 21 June 2009

1 game complete this week.

Ok, so this week I completed one game which was The Spiderwick Chronicles. This game has really irritating and horrible achievements which pretty much almost all involve collecting things. There were so many times where I would have to go back to an old area only to find I need a different character to get that specific collectible. Ignoring the achievements though the game isn't that bad, I like that it is an open world style game and it's certainly not as bad as some of the other games I've played. If you're looking for easy achievements then play it, but it is an irritating easy achievement game. I'll give it 5/10.

DizzyChaos update:

His gamerscore now: 69,825 - An increase of 1,015 gamerscore
My gamerscore now: 57,705
- An increase of 1,222 gamerscore

I didn't beat him by much, but I did beat him :)

Rank update:

My world ranking: 14,083 - An increase of 557 ranks

My country ranking: 3,160 - An increase of 138 ranks

Ranks are still going up =D

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 14 June 2009

Sonic 3, Gunstar Heroes complete.

Ok, so this blog is probably going to be a short blog today. I completed two games which were Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Gunstar Heroes. Since I've already given Sonic 3 a score when I did Mega Drive collection I'll talk about Gunstar Heroes. Gunstar Heroes is a great game which reminds me of Alien Hominid and Metal Slug. You basically go around shooting enemies with varied guns like you do in Alien Hominid and Metal Slug which isn't a bad thing. It's a tough game unless you save often but only takes 1-2 hours to get all of the gamerscore from. I'll give it a 8.5/10, buy it.

DizzyChaos will continue to be my rival, the things that happened appeared to be false.

His gamerscore now: 68,810
My gamerscore now: 56,483

My world ranking: 14,640

My country ranking: 3,298

It appears as if my 360 is back in England, actually in England this time. Hopefully, it will be delivered today. Apparently it can be delivered anytime between 9AM-7PM.

Delayed...thanks Microsoft

Thanks to Microsoft posting inaccurate information for tracking my Xbox 360 it appears to have been delayed by 7 hours. I hope that means it will still get here today...

Ok, so hopefully my 360 will be back tomorrow. It is now back in England =)

Welcome back to England my Xbox 360, I hope to get some more gamerscore with you soon.

I don't know what an "ORIGIN SCAN" is but I thin it means that my 360 is making it's way back to me. It's still in Frankfurt though...

Billing information received

Apparently my billing information has been received in an unknown location. Well, at least it seems that my 360 is being shipped back to me...

"Console Shipped" is in progress!

Well, it looks like this morning I have an update about how my console is doing. It seems that it is in the process of being shipped. At last, it looks like my gaming will be going back to normal once again :)

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 7 June 2009

3 followers in 1 week? Also, my 360 isn't repaired yet.

Guh, so my 360 needed to be sent off to Microsoft and so of course I haven't been able to play it. GAME, once again has decided to piss me off. I don't want to rant again about them, I've done that enough in the past when I was blogging elsewhere. That was back when I didn't proof read my blogs. Wow, they were so badly written back then. Not that I consider them well written now, I can read much more well written blogs if I want to.

Anyway, I don't plan to do a normal blog this week. Having no 360 means I've gained almost no gamerscore this week and so I'm not doing the DizzyChaos or rank update. It would be pointless, my ranks would only decrease which in this case would not be my fault.

Instead, I'll just show you the image of what my 360 has gone through in the past week:

If you just looked at that image you would think that it is making progress and should be making its way back to me soon. I admit, yes it is taking less time than expected which is good. However, the console was received Thursday and then also repaired the same day. I believe Friday was the day it got to the above screenshot and said the repair was complete. So then why was it not shipped out to me the same day, Saturday or Sunday (today) at the latest? I hope it ships tomorrow, I have Disney's Bolt and The Spiderwick Chronicles to get the points from. Both have been just sitting there all week while I wait for the chance to play them.

I suppose this week hasn't been all bad though since I strangely now have 4 followers? That means I gained three in the past week. Does this mean that people are actually starting to read this now? It's nice to see that people have at least looked at my blog and liked what they saw, thank you all for following me.

Sabre x360a was the first of the followers. Looking at his blog it seems to be another gamerscore blog. I found it to be a good read and recommend it. You can find the blog here.

ThrawnOmega was my next follower and I was really impressed when I looked at his latest post. It documents all of the achievement bloggers that he has found with stats such as who has the most posts and followers. I really recommend this one which you can find here.

NJC Omega was my third follower who also has an interesting blog that is worth a read. Once again this blog is about gamerscore. You can find it here.

Well, I suppose I don't have much else to say. I just hope my 360 comes back soon...

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 31 May 2009

Four games completed this week, Red Ring of Death!

Ok, so after a very good week for gamerscore I end up becoming annoyed at the end of it. Why? Well as of about an hour ago I got the red ring of death! I guess at least it came today, the final day of half term and not at the beginning of half term. If it had have happened then I would have been really annoyed. I think I made someone feel guilty about my red ring too, the time I got it was after accepting an invite for Forza 2. Well, at least it's still under warranty which means that I should be able to take it into the shop tomorrow and get a new one. I hope I don't have to send it off, otherwise I may have to go and buy some PC games for gamerscore. I have Viva Pinata PC which I need to finish, Gears of War PC has gone missing. I've been wanting to do Fallout 3 for a while so perhaps I'll get that if I do have to send it off.

The next thing I want to say is something I never thought I'd say. Someone is actually following this blog! Here I thought that no one read it other than DizzyChaos, it seems that at least one other person is reading it. Thank you
JJBDude for following me, I am following you're Gaming Habits blog which is quite a good read. I recommend it to anyone who is reading this blog.

So the games I've completed this week are Aegis Wing, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Hannah the Movie and Terminator: Salvation.

First I'll start with Aegis Wing. I got this game a long time ago and it is a great Shmup, perhaps mainly because it is free. It's a sidescrolling shmup like Gradius or R-Type, just not as good and feels quite generic. Probably the best thing about it is the fact that you can join 4 ships together and then use the right analog stick to shoot enemies whilst the person you are connected to drives you around. I recommend you try it, especially since it's free. I'll give it a 6.4/10.

Next it Need for Speed: Most Wanted which is a very good game. It's also the first Need for Speed game I've played and makes me want to play the other games in the series. I originally got the game for gamerscore alone from LoveFilm but it really is a good game. Basically it is a racing game where you are in a city and have to defeat opponents to move up ranks to the top of this blacklist. The difference between this game and other racing games is the fact that in the middle of any race the cops will start chasing you and other vehicles. After you finish the race you will have to drive around the city to get away from the cops. I guess it's kind of like Grand Theft Auto, just only with cars. I give it a 8.5/10.

The third game I finished was Hannah Montana, I'm not talking about this one. Rent it for easy gamerscore. It is a bad game where you move as slow as Cloud in Final Fantasy VII if you didn't hold the X button, I had the sound down the entire time so I didn't have to listen to the songs. I'll give this a 3/10.

The final game I completed was Terminator: Salvation which is basically a bad Gears of War rip off. Like in Gears you go from cover to cover shooting enemies, you even slow down and cannot shoot when people are talking. It's repetitive, has the same enemies throughout the entire game and doesn't even have a final boss. I'll give it a 5/10.

DizzyChaos update:

DizzyChaos: 66,470 - Increase of 1,495 this week
KaibaChaos: 55,738 - Increase of 3,885 this week

I more than doubled DizzyChaos this week, I hope I can continue to beat him.

Rank update:

Country Rank: 3,294/407,297 - An increase of 754 ranks
World Rank: 14,648/3,020,741 - An increase of 3,185 ranks

I think I did quite well this week to go up that much, hopefully I'll be able to continue to get higher =D

I noticed I didn't change the ranks or gamerscore in last weeks blog. Sorry, I'll try and not make this mistake a third time.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 24 May 2009

Space Invaders Extreme completed

I can't be bothered to number my blogs anymore, that's the end of that tradition. It didn't look that great anyway...

So this week I've beaten one game which was Space Invaders Extreme. If you like Space Invaders, then you will like this game. It's basically a sequel to the original game like Pac-Man Championship Edition is to Pac-Man. It's really good, you get different weapons, it's stage based and you can battle online. I'll give it an 8/10, buy it!

DizzyChaos update:

DizzyChaos: 62,240 - Increase of 2,735 this week
KaibaChaos: 50,298 - Increase of 1,555 this week

I didn't beat him, but I think I got a good amount of gamerscore this week.

Rank update:

Country Rank: 4,154/404,943 - An increase of 106 ranks
World Rank: 18,306/3,001,901 - An increase of 473 ranks

I went up ok. As long as I am going up that is what I want.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 17 May 2009

Two games completed, back to gamerscore properly again!

Blog number 11. Two games were completed this week, so I think I'm getting back into getting achievements.

The first game was Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection which I started a while ago and it is a very good collection. I don't want to start talking about every game because that would take far too long and I just don't want this one blog to turn into forty blogs. So instead, I'm going to just instinctively rate every game from what I played and give it an average score at the end:

  • Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle - 5/10
  • Alien Storm - 7/10
  • Alien Syndrome (Arcade) - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Altered Beast (Mega Drive) - 6/10
  • Altered Beast (Arcade) - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Beyond Oasis - 6.5/10
  • Bonanza Bros. - 6.5/10
  • Columns - 8/10
  • Comix Zone - 4/10
  • Congo Bongo (arcade) - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Decap Attack - 5/10
  • Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine - 6.3/10
  • Dynamite Headdy - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • ESWAT: City Under Siege - 7/10
  • Ecco the Dolphin - 5.5/10
  • Ecco: The Tides of Time - 5.5/10
  • Fantasy Zone (Arcade) - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Fatal Labyrinth - 5.3/10
  • Flicky - 6.4/10
  • Gain Ground - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Golden Axe - 8.5/10
  • Golden Axe II - 7.5/10
  • Golden Axe III - 7/10
  • Golden Axe Warrior (Sega Master System) - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Kid Chameleon - 6.8/10
  • Phantasy Star (Sega Master System) - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Phantasy Star II - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Ristar - 9/10
  • Shining in the Darkness - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Shining Force - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Shining Force II: Ancient Sealing - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Shinobi (Arcade) - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master - 8/10
  • Sonic 3D Blast - 7.9/10
  • Sonic & Knuckles - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Sonic Spinball - 6.6/10
  • Sonic the Hedgehog - 8.9/10
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - 9.4/10
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 3 - 9.3/10
  • Space Harrier (Arcade) - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Streets of Rage - 9/10
  • Streets of Rage 2 - Didn't play in this collection yet.
  • Streets of Rage 3 - 8/10
  • Super Thunder Blade - 3.5/10
  • Vectorman - 5/10
  • Vectorman 2 - 5/10
  • Zaxxon (Arcade) - Didn't play in this collection yet.
Apparently the average for this game is 6.78/10 from what I have given each game. I think it deserves more because of the amount of games in the collection and the games I just didn't rate because I haven't played them in the collection. So I'll give it an 8.78/10.

The second game was Lego Indiana Jones, finally! It was a good game but I feel like I was with it for much longer than I should have been. This being the case I don't really feel like talking about it too much. It's good, it plays like the other Lego Games based upon franchises. I give it a 7/10.

Games of the week:

The quick retail game: Lego Indiana Jones - Completed.

The new quick retail game: Need for Speed: Most Wanted - Got one achievement so far, seems like a good game.

The not so quick retail game: Sonic The Hedgehog - Got all of the S ranks with Sonic finally! Time for a break from this game to play something else.

The quick arcade game: Hardwood Backgammon - I had 7 wins in a row and then lost, still need the 25 wins in a row.

The not so quick arcade game: Hexic HD - Got more stars, still going slowly.

Other game: Gears of War - Not many more kills since last time, but I'm still going for Seriously.

DizzyChaos update:

DizzyChaos: 62,240 - Increase of 1,680 this week
KaibaChaos: 50,298 - Increase of 725 this week

It may still be a loss, but it's a better loss. I'll continue trying to win now :)

Rank update:

Country Rank: 4,154/401,865 - An increase of 94 ranks
World Rank: 18,306/2,980,093 - An increase of 405 ranks

My ranks are going up again =D

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 10 May 2009

Nothing completed this week.

Blog 10, that's two digits. I didn't complete any games this week which shows that college does in fact affect my completing of games. I'm still going to go after DizzyChaos, even if I lose to him every week for a year! That isn't going to happen. But with that said I don't think I've beaten him this week either.

Before all that though I'll start with my five games I want to complete:

The quick retail game: Lego Indiana Jones - I wanted to have this done by this week, well it will be done by next week; this game has taken far too long. I did continue with it though collecting more artifacts.

The not so quick retail game: Sonic The Hedgehog - I managed to get some more S ranks in this. So far I've managed to do all of Sonic's up until the last two levels.

The quick arcade game: Hardwood Backgammon - I don't mind this game, but I wouldn't call the final achievement I need easy. I need 25 wins in a row and I just can't do it. The achievement is glitched too because a friend and I played against each other and after 25 wins in a row neither of us got the achievement...

The not so quick arcade game: Hexic HD - Going ok so far, I have 6 flowers I believe. I'm going to continue to take this slowly since I don't want to ruin what I've done so far.

Other game: Gears of War - Since I started counting I have gotten 6,023 kills. The leaderboards say around 8,000? I just hope my 10,000 kills unlocks properly and not too much over 10,000.

DizzyChaos update:

DizzyChaos: 60,560 - Increase of 1,615 this week
KaibaChaos: 50,298 - Increase of 285 this week

I didn't do very good at all this week, I also noticed a mistake in the DizzyChaos update last week. I didn't change the gamerscore. Oh well...

Rank update:

Country Rank: 4,248/398,810 - A decrease of 21 ranks
World Rank: 18,711/2,959,081 - An decrease of 103 ranks

Definitely not good, I need to get more gamerscore next week...

Thanks for reading, bye :)

50,000 Gamerscore!!!

It's blog number 9 which is 1 away from double figures!

This week, although it has been a relatively slow one it has been a good one. I finally reached my goal of 50,000 gamerscore, the achievement that put me over was Ultimate History Lesson in TNA iMPACT!. It has been a long journey from 0 to 50,000 gamerscore but I am now half way to 100,000 which I'm really pleased with. My new gamerscore goal is 75,000 which I'll get with the help of http://www.lovefilm.com. LoveFilm is a great website for people who want gamerscore, I highly recommend it. I went from 40,000 to 50,000 with quite a bit of speed thanks to it and hope to reach 75,000 in quite a good time too :). It feels great to be at 50K, I can only imagine what an even higher gamerscore will feel like.

So, college has been slowing the week for gamerscore again. But I still managed to finish one game which was Spyglass Board Games...well I say finish but I actually have 195/200. One of the achievements is glitched and so rather than say what's good and bad about this game I'm going to give it a 0/10. Don't buy it. I plan to email the developer an angry email about it, really quite annoyed about this. I'm mainly annoyed because it's glitched for only certain people and not everyone. This makes it unfair, not only that but it's false advertising. I wish I could say I paid money for this game but I actually got it for free, still some people who paid for this game were lied to by the developer because it's incompleteable for some people. Absolutely pathetic...

So now for the DizzyChaos update:

DizzyChaos: 55,640 - Increase of 3,305 this week
KaibaChaos: 49,558 - Increase of 455 this week

DizzyChaos has increased a lot, not sure if I would have beat him even without the coursework, but I do plan to still beat him.

Rank update:

Country Rank: 4,248/395,750 - A increase of 26 ranks
World Rank: 18,608/2,938,064 - An increase of 112 ranks

I've also decided the five games I'm going to do and try to keep to, I'll play other games but these will be my main ones.

The quick GS game: Lego Indiana Jones - I hope to finish this soon. I want to say by next week but I don't know because of coursework...

The not so quick GS game: Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 - I got this game when I got my 360, I want to finish it fully.

The quick arcade game: Hardwood Backgammon - Don't really like this game, but I want the 200 gamerscore from it.

The not so quick arcade game: Hexic HD - This was going to be Ikaruga, but I also got this game when I got my 360 so I want to finish it. I'm always trying the last two achievements and failing so I've limited myself to 1 flower star per day until I get enough black pearls. This game requires patience and consentration which is something I don't have after a while with this game and so I start to make stupid moves. By keeping it to 1 flower star per day I hope to fix this.

The other game: Gears of War - Another game I got when I got my 360 and I only need Seriously. I will get this!

Lists of games

Blog number 8, I'm bored and am going to bed in about 20 minutes so I thought I'd fill the time with a blog.

I'm going to list some games I want to do for different reasons. These are all retail since I'm just writing it by looking at my collection.:

LoveFilm:

  • Lego Indiana Jones - DizzyChaos is beating me in it, but that's to be expected until I have less college work
  • Need For Speed: Most Wanted - I'll start this after Lego Indiana Jones

Games that are in progress but are/will take a while:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog - The 2006 game. Yep, I know it's a bad game but I have this thing for Sonic games and will play them anyway
  • Gears of War 1 - Still trying to get Seriously and it's really annoying that I can't just keep going and going with it because of college work
  • Gears of War 2 - Level 100, Annex now with Execution rules, 10 meatflags, 10 wins as the guardian leader
  • Blue Dragon - I want to continue this game after I'm done with Sonic, which I have a feeling might be a while

Games I own and haven't started:

  • Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise
  • Quake 4
  • Eternal Sonata
  • Infinite Undiscovory
  • The Last Remnant
  • Fable II
  • Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies
  • Dark Sector
  • Final Fantasy XI - It was 99p, I don't think I'll ever do this one

Games to finish off:

  • Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection
  • Forza Motorsport 2
  • Tetris Evolution

Hmm, I think I'll have to make this list more manageable. Perhaps a game from each category.

Geometry Wars 200/200, 1Million Poinst without dying =D

Blog number 7. YES, FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY!!! Today is the day I have been practicing for. For 2 years since I started Geometry Wars Retro Evolved for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade I have practiced. 2 years! That's how long it took me to finally, FINALLY get all 12 achievements in the game. I have now survived 1Million points without dying. I'm so glad that I kept playing this game trying again and again to get the next achievement that I have been working towards. I'd say that this game is the game that I have spent the most time with overall out of all my games for the Xbox 360. I played Lost Odyssey for over 180 hours and so that's a lot. That's a lot for a shmup which has such a simple concept; you are a ship and you shoot your geometrical shaped enemies. Each enemy acting different, the easiest being the purple pinwheels that just slowly make their way about the grid and the most annoying being the snakes for taking up so much space. In fact, sometimes they spawn over you and unfairly take your life. My favourite enemy is the blue diamonds who simple chase you around the screen until they kill you, unless you shoot them.

When I first started Geometry Wars it was recommended to me by a friend who goes by the name of Siriku. I had no idea what the game was and the name didn't make it sound that exciting. However, I wanted some XBLA games since these would be my first downloads after just getting my Xbox 360. So I went to Siriku's and watched him play it without trying it myself, thinking it looked pretty cool. When I got home I downloaded it and started to play it right away. Up until that point I had never played a duel stick shmup before and I hadn't heard of the concept either so I was a noob. How did I shoot? I tried every button sitting there for about 10 minutes just not knowing. Lol, I laugh at that now but it did seem weird back then. Obviously I found out it was the right analog stick and started playing properly. Although since I wasn't used to this type of shmup I died at 25K which for the first day was my highscore. It felt like such an achievement just to eventually get 100K (with dying). But before I even did that I survived 60 seconds without shooting which was a hard challenge. These days I can do it whenever I want, but when I started that was hard. Eventually I survived 100K which became my general highscore for a while.

By the time I had scored 500K Siriku had already beaten me to surviving 1Million in Geometry Wars. Not that I was racing or anything but it certainly motivated me to keep playing and playing until I got there. Then I finally got 9 lives, I scored 1Million, I survived 500K all in the same day and I believe my score was 1.2Million overall at that point. To do all that in 1 day was a really nice feeling with my new TV which would sometimes deform colours and not work properly. Next it was 10x multiplier which I received 04/05/2008. So that's almost a whole year ago. So really, I was trying this achievement for almost 1 year and nothing else when I played Geometry Wars 1. It was a challenge and I'm so, so glad I beat that game in it's entirety. It was so, so great. In the survive 1 Million points game my heart was beating so fast, it was unbelievable. I was shaking, I couldn't believe how well I was doing, so nervous I was going to lose a life.

I can't stop writing about this without thanking some people, specifically Siriku for making me want to keep playing the game more and more even though I am yet to beat his score. The other people I want to thank of those of you that have congratulated me for my achievement. Thank you.

I give Geometry Wars 1 a 10/10. Go download it, you won't be disappointed if you like retro games. The closest I can compare it to is Asteroids. I am the 6,270th person to ever to get 200/200 :)

So now to change the subject to DizzyChaos of which I am 100% sure I didn't beat him this week. Unfortunately this is the time where college work is coming to an end so until May 15th at the latest I think it is, I'm going to be pretty busy. After that I will still be busy since I will have exams but no coursework left to do. It won't be until June 4th that I am completely free again though so this slump may last a bit. Then again coursework is what takes the time, when I'm revising I'm usually able to play games at the same time a lot easier. For instance, I might do a match of Gears of War and read some stuff in between rounds. Or I might do something like what could likely be Ikaruga since I've finished Geometry wars, go for a game in that and then do some revision. I might even do something that doesn't require gameplay at all, such as in Perfect Dark Zero I could start a match and just leave it idle. There's an achievement for doing 1,000 Deathmatch and Dark Ops games offline so it somewhat makes sense to do. But anyway, this blog is probably one of the longer ones I've written since I'm just in shock with finally beating Geometry Wars, so I shall continue the update:

DizzyChaos: 55,640 - Increase of 3,590 this week
KaibaChaos: 49,558 - Increase of 360 this week

Wow that's a lot from DizzyChaos this week. Once everything's past I'm going to really need to work to beat him. I think the reason partly for such a large increase at once is the fact that he knows about the blog now and knows that I am trying to beat him. Nevertheless he can't win because I don't lose until I quit which I don't plan to do.

Rank update:

Country Rank: 4,274/392,765 - A decrease of 10 ranks.
World Rank: 18,720/2,917,865 - An increase of 21 ranks.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

5 Games 100%, One Week!

Blog number 6, a few hours earlier today but I've got things to do which is why I'm posting it now. Plus, I've got a lot to talk about so I should probably get started. I've 100 percented 5 games this week.

Game 1: Madden 06

Yep, this game really is an easy and quick 1000...providing you know about American Football. I had someone help me with this because otherwise I would not have had a clue what I was playing, even when it was explained to me I still didn't! All these options appear when you are about to try and steal the ball from your opponent or trying to make a touchdown yourself. Well basically I don't know what I just played but pretty much I press X and B over and over when I don't have the ball and I run with it when I do have the ball! Other than not knowing what the game was about really it was an ok experience so I'll give it a 7/10.

Game 2: Soul Calibur

200/200 in Soul Calibur thanks to a friend who let me recover my profile to his memory unit. This game was surprisingly a quick 200 and no real hard achievements. Probably the one that took the longest was completing arcade mode with all characters. This game is a really enjoyable fighter but I am disappointed that it seemed shorter than I remember it. So I'll give it a 7.5/10 which means it's still worth a download.

Game 3: Cloning Clyde

Wow, this game is unique and different from every platformer I've ever played. You basically have to keep cloning yourself or mutate yourself into certain animals and work out puzzles within levels. There's a frog, monkey, chicken and a few others and although short this game is still very fun. I think that if you like platformers and want an easy 200 gamerscore then you should get it. I give this a 6.5/10.

Game 4: Kung Fu Panda

I have to say although I had been told good things about this game I really still wasn't looking forward to getting the full 1000 in it. I changed my mind when I started to play it because providing you can ignore the crappy storyline, characters etc and focus on the gameplay then this is a good game. As long as a game has good gameplay that's pretty much almost all it needs. Kung Fu Panda is a 3D platformer and one of the easiest games you will ever play, I did not notice a single change at any point during the game when I changed the difficulty to the higher setting for the achievements. I thought a higher difficulty setting was supposed to make a game harder, well not this game. Fun 3D platformer and not bad for a movie game. I'll give it a 6.7/10.

Game 5: Fight Night Round 3

Ok, of all of the easy gamerscore games that I've talked about in this blog this on is definetely the easiest. Basically all you need to do is buy some illegal moves, turn illegal moves off, then you can use illegal moves but your opponents can't. Also, as long as the difficulty is set to easy you will probably never lose. Every fight the combo to to is LT+Left Analog Stick Down+B, it's that simple. I'll give this game a 7.2/10.

Now for the DizzyChaos update and I'm sure I've beaten him this week so here are the scores:

DizzyChaos: 52,050 - Increase of 200 this week
KaibaChaos: 49,198 - Increase of 3,095 this week

Wow, I knew I went up a lot but I didn't know it was that much! This score is more than 15 times what he got this week. I'm really pleased with this :)

Rank update:

Country Rank: 4,264/389,264 - An increase of 791 ranks.
World Rank: 18,741/2,894,774 - An increase of 3,565 ranks.

Country Rank %: The top 1.09% an increase of 0.21%
World Rank %: The top 0.006474% an increase of 0.763525%

X-Men: The Official Game and 1,885GS this week!

It's blog number 5 which is half way to 10 and this has probably been my most successful week so far since I started blogging again. I can't wait to calculate the amount of gamerscore I've gotten this week.

So I finished X-Men: The Official Game this week which I want to say is a bad game and it is but it can also be not that bad. It's good points are that it feels like a great accomplishment when you beat the game since the achievements are almost all at the end of the game and so I got 950GS from it in one day! Now the bad things about it...

1. It's very repetitive since you are always doing the same thing depending which character you are playing as.
2. The upgrading system makes the difficulty system irrelevant. If Super Hero difficulty is supposed to be harder for the experienced gamer then why can I keep upgrading my character to make it easy.
3. The controls suck...well ok, most of the time they aren't that bad. When they are however, they really do suck. When I'm playing as Nightcrawler for instance and am trying to teleport the game will sometimes teleport you to some random other place you don't want to go to!
4. Some of it is just luck. When you are fighting with Wolverine and sometimes Nightcrawler there is no strategy at all. It's just attack, attack, attack and hope you win.

Overall I guess I did have some fun with this game so it isn't all that bad. I'll give it a 3/10 which makes me want to raise the score of Cabela's Big Game Hunter a bit since that is the better game. Ah well, these things happen with a 10 point scale.

Now for the DizzyChaos update:

DizzyChaos: 51,850 - Increase of 1,500 this week
KaibaChaos: 46,103 - Increase of 1,885 this week

Hmm...I did really well this week. But unfortunately so did DizzyChaos. I beat him still though which I think I'm lucky for.

And now a new segment - or the return of a segment. The leaderboard segment which I have decided I will indeed bring back. No comparing this week though since I don't know what rank I was last week. Instead I will post my country and world rank so far:

Country Rank: 5,055/385,662 - This means I'm in the top 1.31% of the UK.
World Rank: 22,306/2,873,623 - This means I'm in the top 0.77% in the world.

Hopefully I'll have 1,000 in Kung Fu Panda by next blog, Lego Indiana Jones and Fight Night Round 3 are also making their way to me from LoveFilm at the moment! I don't know why but they decided to give me an extra rental, oh well I'm not complaining lol.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 5 April 2009

Blog number 4 (I think). A short blog today since I haven't actually finished any games 100% this week. I'll go straight to the DizzyChaos update which as of the time of writing I haven't compared the scores. I don't think I've beaten him this week, let's find out.

DizzyChaos: 50,350GS - Increase of 310 this week
KaibaChaos: 44,218GS - Increase of 279 this week

Well, I didn't get that much this week as I thought but neither did DizzyChaos so that is good. Still, if I'm to beat him then I'm going to have to gain more than him every week so it's no good this happening. I believe it was X-Men: The Official Game that did it to me, three achievements for 0 points and it being a really bad game don't help. Oh well, I hope I'll beat it soon and then I can move to Kung Fu Panda which according to what I've heard from some friends isn't that bad.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Cabela's Big Game Hunter 1000/1000

Blog number 3 and week 3 of going after DizzyChaos's gamerscore. This week has mainly been playing Cabela's Big Game Hunter which I got the full 1000 points from. The game was really quite easy to get the points from but to be honest although I did have some fun with it the game did have some bad problems. For example you would be walking around in this open space and all of a sudden you would run into an invisible wall. Now in something like Earth Defense Force this isn't too bad because of the way the game is but in Big Game Hunter it's horrible. Imagine if in World of Warcraft you were walking around randomly and then all of a sudden there is an invisible wall that stops you progressing using that path. The next thing is that I'll be looking for a certain animal to hunt and even though the objective tells me where the animal is the animal just won't appear. I spent half an hour at one point wandering through an area trying to find a specific animal when the game seems obviously glitched unless I reload. Thirdly there is the dodging problem when you are against rival animals which makes the fights unfair. When you're fighting a rival animal usually a prompt appears telling you to press X or B to dodge, unfortunately though sometimes it fails to prompt you and all of a sudden from out of no where you will be hit. I had to keep restarting from checkpoint until the dodging system worked properly. It was very annoying. This games only real redeeming factors for me are the graphics, I find them to be really nice looking and colourful which makes for a nice change when you're used to seeing gray and brown in a lot of games of this generation. So I'm going to give this a 3/10. I did have fun with it, but because of it's problems I can't let the score go any higher.

Gears of War 2 is another game I've been playing a bit of this week since the new ranking system has been released. I'm level 8 and can't wait for the new maps to become available next Tuesday.

Finally is the DizzyChaos update. This week he has 50,040 gamerscore and I have 43,939 gamerscore which means that this week he got 835 gamerscore and I got 1,244 gamerscore. So I got about 1/3 more than him which isn't bad. Hopefully I'll be able to continue to beat his weekly gamerscore and get in front of him.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Alone in the Dark is annoying, go get Bourne Conspiracy...

Well, this is the second blog. I suppose I'll start with the main thing I've been doing this week which is completing The Bourne Conspiracy. I finally got 1000 Gamerscore from it and it was really not that bad of a game. I like the way that it split up the third person shooter and brawlet parts of the game, it made it really enjoyable. The shooting was not as good as anything like Gears of War and the fighting wasn't as good as some other games but I thought it was well thought out, especially for a movie game. At least I think it's a movie game, I don't pay attention to movies so I wouldn't really know. For all the Gamerscore Whores out there that are reading this (all zero of you :P) I recommend you get it. I'd recommend that you rent it though if you have a service like LoveFilm or GameFly since the game is quite short. But if you do find it cheap, I'd say around £10-15 (about $20-$25), buy it. Overall I think that it deserves a 7/10, I would have given it an 8 but there are these pointless collectibles that you have to find to get all of the gamerscore. There are 75 passports to find in this game and no I'm not joking, 75 passports. I mean what could you possibly do with 75 passports? I didn't really see them add anything to the game since I didn't bother checking the extras but if I'm going to be collecting 75 passports then at least make it noticeable in game what I'm getting for it. Maybe a new gun? Unlimited ammo? I think something like that would be nice. Then again perhaps I'm just complaining too much, I did get a good amount of gamerscore for collecting all of the passports.

The next game I started was Alone in the Dark which I can tell you that I absolutely hate the achievements for. The reason I say this is because I think the guide I'm using doesn't go into enough detail about what to do to get the achievements. For instance in chapter 2 it told me that I would get most of the combination achievements and after being a while into the chapter I hadn't gotten a single one. The next thing was shooting the humanz fissure, apparently I need a flame bullet to do this. The achievement guide I was using mentioned this, yet even though the road map I was using said to do the achievement near the start of chapter 2 it failed to tell me where to find a flame bullet. The video guide the road map linked to also didn't pick up anything to make a flame bullet which really annoyed and confused me. So what I've decided to do with this game is to just leave it and send it back to LoveFilm, buy it cheap and take my time with it. Complicated but seemingly quick achievements is what this game seems to be, for now though I want something with fast and easy gamerscore.

I didn't mention last week that I was going for Seriously in Gears of War 1, so far since I started counting I have 4,757 kills. I'm sure the leaderboards won't give me my achievement at 10,000 so I've decided that if I only count the kills myself then I'll know when I should have 10,000.

An update about the Buku games that I'm trying to do with Chaossaturn. It appears I'm not able to download the Mexican version of the game yet. Not sure how people in the UK leaderboard did this.

Finally, DizzyChaos. I got almost double the gamerscore he got this week, he got 510 and I got 992. If this keeps up then I'll be able to eventually beat him. Cabela's Big Game Hunter should be here from LoveFilm tomorrow, I'm looking forward to getting the gamerscore out of that.

Thanks for reading, bye :)

Sunday 15 March 2009

It begins...again...

Well, after thinking about it for a long time I've finally decided I will begin once again my Gamerscore blog. This time here at Blogger and not MySpace where I previously hosted it. That blog turned into another blog after I stopped going after Gamerscore for a bit! I'll try not to let that happen this time, but if it does and I want to continue blogging then I will create a new blog for that. That's not to say that this blog will just be about me collecting Gamerscore though, I do want to include just about anything else as long as I keep it mainly based around things that are to do with Gamerscore. For example I might talk about Gamerscore a lot and then have another rant about the GAME shop near me because they are being incompetent again. I plan to update this around/at least once a week. This blog I'm writing now will count as this weeks blog, but I may post again if I feel like it.

I've also set up a Twitter account to keep track of my Gamerscore. I know 360voice already does that but I don't get to talk about the achievement I just got. Even if it is just a sentence, it makes me feel more satisfied with what I've done. See it at http://twitter.com/Kaibachaos

Since this is the first blog I'd like to also thank Stallion83 who made me feel like writing blogs again, seeing his score go up made me feel like getting gamerscore fast like I used to. But this time, I'm going to go even faster than before because I have a new and better strategy. I have subscribed to http://www.lovefilm.com which is an amazing rental service for both films and VideoGames.
I don't know what their non Xbox 360 selection of games are like but they have a brilliant library of Xbox 360 easy Gamerscore titles. Almost everything I check for was there with a few exceptions such as the Cabela games of which they only had Cabela's Big Game Hunter. I can't really fault them for this since I'm having a hard time myself even figuring out which Cabela games are released in the UK. However, I think I can import them from Australia since they also use PAL Xbox 360 consoles over there. I'm not sure though, I'm going to need to ask someone before I consider buying the games. However, I don't think it will be a problem since I just received The Bourne Conspiracy from LoveFilm which just so happens to be an Australian copy. That works fine, I haven't checked if it's region free yet.

Unlike before with my Gamerscore blog I don't think I'll be checking my rank and my friends/rivals rank. In stead I'll just perhaps keep to comparing how close I am to my rivals Gamerscore. So this is the part where I suppose I should choose my first Gamerscore rival; the person I am going to try and beat:

DizzyChaos. My Gamerscore is currently 41,703 and his is 48,695 so I think this is a good challenge to start with. This guy managed to beat me to 40,000 Gamerscore so it's seems fitting that I choose someone who has already beaten me once. I don't think I'll notify him that I'm after his Gamerscore until after I've completed the Buku games which I plan to do with Chaossaturn, DizzyChaos's cousin. That seems like a good way to do it and also a good place to end this blog. Thanks for reading, bye :)
